Summer and Fall 2009

This past summer and fall have been a workload... but also a break. After we finished the den, we took a break for a while. The den is now complete with Office furniture!

The break wasn't that big of a break because we worked on getting the outside of the house all prettied up with fencing and landscaping. It has continued to change the looks of the house....

PICTURES COMING SOON

In between that, we got a few new things for the kitchen including a stainless steele stove, microwave and Fridge......

The next project will be the Living Room and original Bathroom and then the downstairs of the house is complete!!!

I can't believe we will be coming up on 4 years in the house here in 2010!

Start of Spring, start of a new project

With the breezeway complete, it is time for us to really get going on the den.. this means we have 6 rooms complete, 3 to go (Den, Old Bathroom, Living Room)!

The Soon-to-be staircase wall and corner by the covered patio are now complete (minus trim... but that will come later) . So, the room is already starting to shape up!

The other side of the room was cleaned out and ready for some sheet rock!

Even the deer had to retreat to the spare bedroom until the West wall is complete!

I can't wait to have an office!!!!

Winter comes and winter goes

With winter, there is time for indoor projects. We have seen a lot of changes over the past 4 months. As promised in the sneak peak, here are the pictures from the addition to the house and other projects...

The New Bathroom looks fantastic!!

The Breezeway really adds to the house... we moved the couch in there from the Den but it won't be staying there.. as soon as the Den is done with construction, painting, and tile, we will move everything back in... that will be the Spring/Summer post :-)

Notice the beautiful Cedar Ceiling!!

A sneak peek at the Winter Projects

Since I am waiting until all of the winter projects are completely finished to post anything, I will give everyone a sneak peek at what to expect.

  • We finished siding the inside of the patio (which will be screened in during the spring)
  • The breezeway is complete with tile and cedar ceilings (see pics below)
  • The new bathroom in the breezeway is complete with a beautiful tile around the shower and antique looking furniture.
  • The initial wall was built for the Staircase that will lead to the upstairs at some point
  • The first corner of the den(including the new wall and the door to the patio) is complete with wall texture, paint, etc. and hopefully will be tiled soon to match the breezeway
  • The front side of the house FINALLY HAS SIDING!!!! YEAH!!!! No more Lowe's wrap!

Here are some teaser pics...

This wall will be the outside wall to the staircase inside the Den. You can see it immediately when you walk in from the Breezeway

The new bathroom with (dirty) tile, wall texture and paint. Can't wait to show everyone the tile design around the top of the shower!!!

The beautiful natural Cedar ceilings (that I told Kenneth I didn't want but I do love now that I see them)

Full room photos to be added soon!

Winter Storm 2009

I have never in my life gone through any kind of natural disaster like the storm we were in this winter. Many called it the Katrina of Kentucky, however Murray was not hit anywhere near as hard as a lot of other counties in KY. We were only without power for 5 days.... many were out of power for two or more weeks. Thank God, we had our gas logs that heated the entire house. We salvaged the grill from the trees that fell on it and cut up wood from other limbs that fell and cooked huge pots of food on the grill at night. We also had all kinds of corn and beans and such stored away from our garden this summer. Since they wouldn't stay frozen long in without electricity, we cooked all of that and had plenty to eat. To wash off, we heated up bowls of water and to flush the toilet, we pulled water from the well. It was a very interesting week and I learned a lot about survival from my manly husband. I thank God for him!
Above and Below are some pictures of the damage done to the house... so much for brand new roof and siding.

Start of fall... start of new projects!

Now that weather is cooler and time for more projects, here is what we have finished at the start of fall!

I forgot in the last post to show our newest addition to the family.... the ginormous Entertainment Center....

Even though we haven't remodeled the Living room, the entertainment center has been a HUGE change to the look of the room!

And now, we have started working on finishing the covered patio, finishing the inside of the breezeway and starting the transformation of the den.... So, here is the new patio door... yes we just knocked a huge hole in the wall and made room for a door!

View from inside the Den....

View from outside under the covered patio (soon to be a screened in patio)

You can see what the next project is..... putting siding on the inside of the patio walls!!!

Hard Work over the summer.....

Time to get everyone caught up on all the changes over the summer....

First off, we finished the outside of the breezeway:

Next we added the outside patio:

Then we finally finished the kitchen and bought a REAL dinning room table!
