I have never in my life gone through any kind of natural disaster like the storm we were in this winter. Many called it the Katrina of Kentucky, however Murray was not hit anywhere near as hard as a lot of other counties in KY. We were only without power for 5 days.... many were out of power for two or more weeks. Thank God, we had our gas logs that heated the entire house. We salvaged the grill from the trees that fell on it and cut up wood from other limbs that fell and cooked huge pots of food on the grill at night. We also had all kinds of corn and beans and such stored away from our garden this summer. Since they wouldn't stay frozen long in without electricity, we cooked all of that and had plenty to eat. To wash off, we heated up bowls of water and to flush the toilet, we pulled water from the well. It was a very interesting week and I learned a lot about survival from my manly husband. I thank God for him!
Above and Below are some pictures of the damage done to the house... so much for brand new roof and siding.
